motion design for the amherst chamber of commerce’s 2025 a+ awards

overview

The Amherst Chamber of Commerce held its A+ Awards ceremony on November 19. About a month prior, I was given the opportunity to begin working with Told Video on the clips that would be shown when the recipients were congratulated. My contact from Told Video would be editing a video about each of the six recipients, and I would create a motion design to be used at the beginning and end of each video. The tone was to be community-based, artistic, historical, and educated.

challenge

My challenge was how to sum up the feel of the event in a 10-second clip. Through my iterations, I focused on community. My initial drafts all had that in common - elements coming together to form a cohesive whole. Additionally, I was to create motion designs for a deceased member that featured In Memorium.

solution

As seen above, I focused on the + of the A+ logo to represent individuals coming together. At the beginning of the animation, the plus signs start singular, then are quickly multiplied until they form a cohesive circle. The circle morphs into the circular arrow of the logo before presenting the name and award.
